contemporary original authentic art

Question asked in early 2019 whilst discussing the proposal for the String Theory Series with TAG (magazine and gallery): Q- “Why have you suddenly changed from figurative come abstraction work to total abstract as the basis of the idea for this new series of work?”

Ans: ” I have been heading towards pure abstraction for a while now. I’ve been testing the possibilities of figurative-abstraction as far back as 1990 and 1993 (Greek studio) when I worked on ‘Walls’ and ‘Stoned’ canvases.

After the intense semi-abstract figurative mix with the ‘Colour Interaction’ series (2015 to 2018) and earlier the Canal series (2005 to 2014), I sort of  wanted to free myself up from that strict conceptual discipline and paint with pure-abstract vision alone. What I mean by that is, I’d used the process of mixing a vision based art actively, consciously supported by intellectual ideas whilst working and the blended these diametric art ideals to try and arrive at an authentic and original satisfactory visual conclusion. That challenge appealed to me as a painter early-on in my UK Manchester Studio. After many years, I think I finally nailed it, so it was time to move on and perhaps take even more risks with something totally new. I’d been reading more and about String Theory, an alternate universe and particle physics – For me it somehow related to colour and new form, more so than  the linked remote effects on particles . I think this abstract research is going to take me a while, perhaps until I can paint one complete alternate universe…or two.”

It’s a odd thing that when the art critics decide to rubbish an artist, they really do go for the throat, just like a pack of dogs hunting a fox.
